Goodbye Last #Beer in the Fridge, Hello #BootCamp…. Wait Do You See a Pattern Here?

Okay so maybe I DO have a drink or two each night…. not EVERY night. A glass of wine a night is okay, and good for your heart (and my mind), and “socially acceptable.” And when the wine’s gone I may have a beer. But starting tomorrow none of those “spirits” are welcome in my new normal.

I will be starting each day with eggs and bacon or a Max’s Best Bootcamp protein shake, followed by an intense workout, a salad for lunch and a lean protein dinner.  At night I will drink water (zzzzz) and crash out into a deep slumber like no other. This schedule is going to take some getting used to.

Anyone who knows me knows that I am a writer and my motto like Ernie H. used to say is “Write drunk edit sober.” I get most of my work done during what I call “vamping hour” after everyone goes to bed. I usually don’t go to bed until 3 or 4 a.m., then wake up at 7 a.m. to drive my daughter to school, walk around in a Zombie-like state until I am pumped full of caffeine and do it all over again. This is not a good way to live- dependent on caffeine during the day and wine at night to regulate my “ever changing moods” as Paul Weller used to say.

Yes, I’m going to miss wine like a child misses their blanket but I’ve got to get a move on in my life….. and big girls don’t cry…. except when they look in the mirror and think GAH! I’ve got to make a change. And P.S. – did you see Fergie in her bodysuit on New Year’s Eve? WOW.

So yes Guru Max, I am ready to accept your 6-week 20 pound workout challenge. Funny thing is, I’m ready but some of my friends don’t think I can stick to it. “You’re never giving yup wine, you love wine,” one said. “Another said, “Really?” and then proceeded to laugh and laugh and laugh. Another said ,” I don’t believe it. You’re going to fall off the wagon. It’s not happening.” Oh yeah? That’s something you don’t say to someone with youngest child syndrome….someone who laughs in the face of challenge…. HA HA HA! To that I say: “Watch me!” I know what you’re thinking, you need to get some new friends!

Wise workout Guru Max said if I’m a good little girl all week, I can have a vodka and soda on the weekend! Yippee tai oh kai yay!

    I don’t have any alcohol at home. At first it was hard, very hard, make me drink more hard, but now I don’t miss it and I actually enjoy it more when I do have a drink for special occasions. The weirdest thing is when I do drink at celebrations it 1 or maybe 2 instead of 1 or 2 bottles of wine. So over all a big win and I have more energy and overall better health.
    Its super hard, but you will get there if you have perseverance.
    Best of luck =) It took me a few goes before it became permanent.
