My superstar won FOUR first place trophies and one second place at the feis today!
Day #14: Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015
For those not “in the know,” a feis is an Irish dance competition in which you watch your child get nervous, freak out, practice, stretch, wait around, dance their heart out, wait around, get nervous, freak out, wait around for results, get SO excited because they won or placed, OR get SO bummed because they didn’t. It is a roller coaster of emotions and luckily my dancer keeps winning which makes it fun!
We ate a late lunch/early dinner at the hotel restaurant whose salad was delicious and entrees were horrible. There were so many snacks around all day long which really annoyed be, because I couldn’t have any. But what really makes my skin crawl is CRUNCHING! I have misophonia (hatred of certain sounds) which, if people had manners and chewed with their mouths closed would not be as bad, but when they CRUNCH and CHOMP right in my ear? Yeah, I want to take a hard dance shoe and hit them on the head. #ineedangermanagementatthesethings Click here to read more about misophonia.
This hatred of hearing people swallow, chew, crunch, crinkle, wrappers or chew ice has been with me for as long as I can remember. When I was younger there was not a word for it, people just thought I was a B. Now there is a word for it and my family is understanding about the fact that I need to have background noise while we eat. They still think I am crazy because there is not enough written about this “weird” disorder, but it is a real thing.
So what’s my point in telling you this? I got so mad and grossed out watching and hearing so many people eat chips that I didn’t want any! Good diet trick!
So that was my day in a NUT shell (pun intended).
Whelp! Here we are folks; two weeks in, almost to the half-way point. Like the Little Engine That Could, I KNOW I CAN and I just keep on truckin’ up that hill. Slow and steady wins the race.
